Introduction to Architectural Drawing
ARCH 110 at Portland Community College is an architectural hand drafting class that focuses on line quality, lettering, elevations, sections and axonometric drawings. This course references real buildings and assignments replicate their floor plans.
Above are my final hand drafted plans of a building called “The Forward Retreat” by architect Roderick M. Hartung. Included is a summary of the building that explains its function and environment. These drawings were created on a drafting board using various edges and leads to highlight the differing line weights and angles.
house presentation
In addition to submitting the final versions of our hand drafted plans, we ended the term with a presentation about a residential home of our choosing in which we outlined the design, materials, history, and context of the house. I chose The Vanna Venturi House by Robert Venturi, whose work and contribution to the Postmodern movement I deeply admire.
